The air quality is worse than the previous ride. I decided to go anyways. The legs felt pretty good to start. The air temperature was pleasant. In the upper 70's. The wind was turbulent. When I got out and realized the wind was going North West, it was demoralizing. I decided to stick with my plan. Go to SS. I made my way through OTR, making it to the summit in good average time. I headed up Banducci. I was at maximum, over the wall. I kept the tempo going through to the summit. I pulled over to take a few moments rest. Checked the GoPro Battery. It was around 66%. Shortly after, I headed downhill. It was mostly fun. Reaching over 40 MPH, in my tuck. Sometime, between climbing up Banducci and making it to the summit, I noticed that the wind had changed directions. It was now going East. And, this is the way I like it. My morale lifted when I realized the change. I made my way to SS. The wind continued to go East. I made my way around the backside and downhill. Reaching 40 MPH. I made it to the tunnel in about 59 minutes. I was a bit surprised. I zipped through town and made my way back to the false flats. I was doing moderate tempo, most of the way. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:20 and change. So, I hardly gave up any minutes. I reached the base of the last climb. I pulled over to check the GoPro battery. It was around 21%. Enough to make it to the summit. The climb went well. The wind was becoming turbulent, towards the summit. No digs, but I kept my momentum going, over the top. There was a slight headwind on the way to Route 202. I forgot to swap batteries on the GoPro. I made my way down Route 202. There was too much traffic, so I ended up making a right turn, and made a u-turn, to get back onto OTR. Just as I was making the u-turn, I remembered to swap the GoPro battery. I think it was around 2 or 3% remaining. I let traffic by, and headed down OTR. Mostly fun and games. Mariposa was the usual grind. From there, it was smooth pedaling. Concentration was good. Few lapses. The morale was good. I had a few things to think about. And, I was listening to my music. Balance and form was good. Ailments... I had some minor right calf soreness, as I was nearing SS. I stretched it out and adjusted my tempo. It went away and never came back. Gear worked great. No issues there. Nutrition was spot on. I went through most of my provisions, but didn't have to ration them. Other notes, I saw about 6 or 7 cyclists today.
