I waited till today to go for an outdoor ride. I chose is well! Overcast, minimal sun, cool air, perfect temperature. I wore the usual kit with arm and knee warmers. The legs felt good from the start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. The downhill was relaxing. No real digs. I kept the momentum going over the two risers. I made it to the base in about 29 minutes and change. I headed back without removing layers. The miles went fast. I was keeping my thoughts active. At the beginning of the climb, I was guessing where the water truck would be while I was making my way up the mountain. I beat it to the end of the gauntlet. The truck was still filling the reservoir. There were tons of cows out today. Somewhat amusing at the gaze they gave me as I was riding. My HR was less then 150 BPM most of the way up. I felt comfortable and never red-lining it. I made it to the summit in about 1:10 hours. A good average time. Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about, the legs felt good, the morale was there. Balance and form was good. Ailments, next to none. Nutrition was good. I had most of my Gatorade, no water. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, no other cyclists today. They've laid some markers at the Loop Monument. Presumably where they will build the vantage point deck.
