Today was a climbing day. I put in a core workout tomorrow. I wasn't sure how my body was going to feel in the morning. Turns out that I had a good recovery. I got out early. The wind was mild, but slightly from the South East. Temperature was nice, in the 70's. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put in two modest digs on the risers. After reaching the base, I checked the GoPro. It had about 97% charge remaining. I headed back without further delay. The climb went well. It was mostly patience. I made my way past the usual landmarks. I was trying to stay focused on just this climb, but keeping in mind that I need some matches for later. After making it to the summit, I relaxed, recovered a bit and made my way to the mailbox locker. When I got there, I refilled my Gatorade and then headed back on the road. OTR went well. I was a bit exhausted, but warmed up at the same time. I think I was nearing 2 hours at that point. The Banducci wall was partial traffic mitigation. I kept my tempo going, keeping my HR out of the red. After making it to the Alpine Forest, I was able to relax a bit and settle into a tempo that I could hold. I was saving a bit for the steeper parts of the climb. I made it past the speed bumps while keeping my momentum going. Mostly out of the saddle and using the smaller gears. I was near max going over the top. From there, I made my way around the backside. The descents were fun as they always are. After making it to the Banducci summit, I pulled over and took a few moments rest. I checked the GoPro battery. It was stable at 97%. I decided to feed about 75% of my Cliff Bar. I could feel my stomach getting full, so I didn't eat the last 25%. Shortly after, I let the traffic by and then headed back down the mountain. I practiced my tuck going down the Banducci Wall. It feels safer in the tuck as opposed to sitting in the saddle, upright. Once I made it to OTR, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. I was feeling a bit impatient, but I held it together, otherwise. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, mostly hand numbness. The left shin was a bit sore at times. But it was mostly a mild soreness. I did stretch now and again. Gear worked perfect. The GoPro battery remained fully charged with the battery bank. Nutrition was good. Minimal hunger signs. I went through about one and a half Gatorade and some water. Other notes, I saw about 4 or 5 cyclists today. There were two trains on the way down the Loop as I was starting the ascension. They were braking as I was passing and it sounded like screeching metal.
