I was wondering how cold it was going to get at the base of Keene. I decided to wear arms, knees, head cap, double socks. There were clouds from the West. Almost looked like rain clouds. After making it to the summit (in good time), I was sufficiently convinced that I had enough clothes. I brought my face mask just in case. Turns out that I didn't need it. I cruised the downhill. I didn't bother checking the time when I reached the base. The legs felt real good on the ascent. I knew I was going to have good legs from the first two to three minutes at the start of the climb. I think the temperature and my recovery were spot on. The landmarks went fast. There were two trains that were passing through. I took a photo when I was at the base of the loop as I was descending. On the way up, I should have video footage of one train. After making it passed the second dip, I increased the tempo a bit. I was counting the songs and guessing how many would it take to reach the summit. It gave me a distraction that helped. I reached the summit without getting too deep into the red-zone. From there, I was able to recover and head home. I felt like I could have gone farther, but I decided to stick with the plan because I'll need it for the Caliente ride on the weekend. Concentration was real good. I had stuff to think about. The music helped. No gremlins today. Balance and form was good. Gear worked great. I adjusted the screws on the headset, It's rock solid now. Ailments, some hand soreness. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I had about 75% of my Gatorade, no water. Other notes, no cyclists today. There were a few tourists at the Loop Monument.
