There's still snow on the ground, a bit warmer today. But likely ice on the road. I should be good or an outdoor ride on the next ride day. I chose to ride on Rouvy on the PCH route. I wasn't sure what to expect. But, it was more or less what I imagined. The route went north to south. The road was undulating with climbs that were less than a mile in length. So, it was mostly rolling terrain. Accumulating over 1700 feet of elevation gain from start to finish. The video quality was so so. It seemed more like DVD quality than HD. Nevertheless, it was enough to capture my attention. I put about 60 or 70 bots on the road. I found some that were closer to my ability. I was by myself for most of the ride. I think there were two or three "real" cyclists on the route. Not sure if I passed any of them. I was able to keep my wattage between 2 and 3.5 for most of the ride. I stretched when the road dipped and was out of the saddle for the steeper segments. I like the Hollywood map better. There was more to see. The PCH route had tons of vegetation, but the scenery was almost always the same. I was having to use most of my gears on this route. For the uphills and downhills. There were 4 rouvy banner signs for the entire ride. I guess they separate them equally for the entire route. I was paying attention to a few things. Mostly my wattages and HR. But also the gradient, how much I've climbed and of course the distance covered. I was never at my maximum. So, no red-lining it today. More of a good workout for the flats. After the ride was complete, I warmed down for about 4 minutes, allowing my HR to get down to 112 bpm. Concentration was good. Minimal lapses. I was in the zone most of the time. There were enough queues to keep me focused. Balance and form was good. Gear worked flawless. I forgot to bring my Garmin GPS for comparison. I tried pairing my smartphone with the Stages power meter. But, it was unable to locate it. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual sensation of exhaustion. Nutrition was good. I had to chug half a cup of Gatorade and some plantain slices. That brought my energy level to even, before the ride began.
