Today's weather was spot on! In the low 70's, blue skies and winds from the North West. I felt average going out the door and it took me a while to get fully warmed up. I took it easy to Route 202. I decided to make today a moderate day with a few kicks. The winds were mild. I had a slight tail/cross wind on the way out. It was apparent, I wasn't going to do good time, so I took it easy and focused on other aspects of the ride. I reached WS in average time. I spent no time to stop, so I turned around and headed back. I was averaging bewteen 15-18 mph, give or take. I planned on doing Banducci, and that' s what I did. I made a dig over the wall, recovered on the false flat and commenced the remainder of the climb. I held good tempo most of the way and pushed just a bit over the top. From there it was descending, fun and games. A push over Mariposa and then to home. Concentration was real good today. No gremlins. I was in the zone for most of the ride. Balance and form was good. I had that slight lean coming back on the Banducci false flat. Something about that stretch of road that my balance gets thrown off. Perhaps the camber and the cross-wind combined. I was struggling to keep my legs square on the pedals. Ailments consisted of right hand numbness. No lower back soreness, and no hip soreness. I think I gauged my efforts perfectly and that's what kept the ailments in check. I was also stretching on many occasions, so that helped too. Gear is working well. I have to lube the chain for the next ride. I dropped my chain once, but got it back by shifting into the big ring. Other notes, I saw a glider and its tow plane as I was making my way out on Highline. I saw 3 cyclists today. Another thing to note, I got out a good hour and a half earlier than usual. I think it made a big difference.
