Today's weather was nice and cool. Somewhere in the mid 50's, winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, cap and jacket. I overdressed with the jacket, but I wanted to try it on for the first time. First impressions are great! It feels much more fitting than the wind breaker I had before. I ended up removing it before the ascent. My legs felt good from the start. I made it to the top of the descent in about 10 minutes. I cruised the downhill, soft pedaling and out of the saddle where needed. Once at the base, I turned around, road to the Chavez center. Took off my jacket, cap and gloves. I probably could have removed my knee warmers, but I didn't want to overstuff my pockets. I was doing good tempo for most of the climb. Putting my cookies where the road was the steepest. I kept the temp nice and high going over the loop monument. From there it was mostly steady tempo, comfortable and not so much that I was going to blow up. No serious digs today. Concentration was spot on. No gremlins and in the zone for nearly the entire ride. Balance and form was also great. My legs felt nice and square turning the pedals over. Ailments consisted of some mild hip/quad soreness and a hint of lower back soreness. I stretched to keep these ailments in check. Gear is working great! Again, I wore the new jacket for the first time and I think It's going to be perfect for cold weather riding. Other notes, no cyclists today. I saw 3 or 4 turkey vultures as I was about to summit on the return leg.
