The weather was cool today, mostly clouds, in the mid 50's, winds from the North West. I wore the standard kit with arms, knees, 1 base layer. I gauged it right. I was comfortable for the duration of the ride. I felt slightly above average going out. I took it easy to Route 202, making it in average time. I wasn't quite warmed up at this point. I decided to take it easy up the Banducci wall. I pushed it over the top. Recovered on the false flat and continued with moderate to good tempo. No real digs over the summit. I took a 1 minute breather, let the traffic by. The downhill was fun and games, a welcome reprieve. The trek through the farmlands was mostly moderate tempo into the wind. I was constantly putting my attention into traffic awareness. I pushed it over the top of S.S. I wasn't doing great time, I kept the pace modest from get-go, so this was not a surprise. I think I reached the tunnel in about 1:02 hours. After making it out of SS, I made my way to Pelliser and commenced with about 18-20 mph tempo through the farmlands. I reached Boss Hogs in about 1:22ish. The last climb was mostly good tempo. With a modest push over the summit. I recovered well on the false flat and made my way out and down Route 202. There wasn't that much traffic from behind, so no sprinting to the left hander. I cruised the downhill, pushed over Mariposa and made my way back. Concentration was good for the most part. Yes, there were heckling gremlins out there. I tried to put it into zen mode. Sometimes the heckling got a bit out of hand. It seems to be somewhat of a roll of the dice. Needless to say, it didn't get the better half of me. Ailments were probably the lesser (in a good way) of things. I think my body responded better today than the past few rides on this route. No calf cramping, no hand numbness, no, minimal to no hip soreness. Perhaps a hint of lower back soreness. I stretched on many occasions. Balance and form felt good. Gear is working well. Yesterday, while cleaning my bike, I noticed that my right pedal wasn't rotating freely. I disassembled it, cleaned and re-greased. It's now working like new. I'm not sure how much time it's been like this, and I'm not sure it contributed to ailments of past. But it's back to where it was and hopefully it will stay like that. I bought new sun glasses and received them yesterday. I put a new nose piece on my old glasses. It looks to be adhering well, but there's a blemish on the right lens. I'm going to look for extra lenses I can buy. Other notes, no other cyclists, somewhat dismal weather, but at least it was comfortable in temperature.
