Today's ride was a "play by ear" day. I wasn't sure if I wanted to include Banducci when I left for the ride. The weather was great! Nice, cool, upper 60's, winds from the north west. I felt ok from the start. I decided to take it easy to Route 202. I made it in average time, around 22-23 minutes. The wind was almost a perfect tail while on the way out. I did high tempo and going anerobic over the summit of Highline. And, brought it down to good tempo for the remainder of the trek to W.S. I wasn't going for a PB, so I kept it within my limits. The return trip was done mostly with moderate to good tempo. I was feeling good at this point, so I decided to add Banducci. I saved some matches for later. I kept the tempo high going over the summit on the return from W.S. I recovered on the downhill. Stopped to check out some horses. Then made my way to Banducci. I began climbing Banducci with modearte tempo, lifting to good, then high over the summit. I was at my limit at the end of the wall. I recovered on the false flat and put it into good tempo for the remainder of the climb. Once at the summit, I took a 30 second breather and made my way back down the mountain after traffic cleared. At this point, I had consumed the majority of my Cytomax, with a good 3/4 left on my water. From this point, it was mostly fun and games to Mariposa. I pushed it over Mariposa and finished the ride. Concentration was good for the most part. Some Gremlins here and there. I was able to sty within myself and keep things safe. Ailments consisted of some right hand numbness, some right calf pains (signs of cramping). The cramping never escalated and I stretched as much as I could to keep it in check. Balance and form felt good. Gear is working good. The cadence sensor wasn't detected by the bike computer. Other notes, I saw one or two other cyclists today.
