It’s so nice to be dressing for summer instead of bundling to not freeze… We’re loving the heat!
Getting a little toasted even though riding early and using sunscreen, but only three days left, I can’t believe it! Tues and Wed will be under the cover of more trees. Tomorrow still more “deserty.”
I was riding hard this morning (83 mi, 5 hrs, 1 mtn), testing my batteries and myself to strategize for my long mileage + time constraint on Tues, so I often forgot to look up and really see what was around me. At one point I did and looked straight into these woods (pic), and it felt so much like home!!! This is terrain I know and love.
The little doggie belonged to the café. JJ. What a lovable little guy. They were closing early today to go to their granddaughter‘s ballet recital… I wonder how many times I’ve said I just love these little towns?!🤗
This hostel is in a church. The top floor is the sleeping quarters and the bottom floor is a huge kitchen and family room area where they also hold church on Sundays. It has the homiest (sp?!) feel and I’m really happy to be back here this year. Jalét has spaghetti in the fridge for us, our names on each bunk or room or tent, and she is continually laundering towels & bedding and keeping the place so nice. It’s a husband and wife who run it. She has a little travel trailer in the back that she had planned to use for them to travel the US for a couple of years, but instead about eight years ago God led them to open this place, and she said now the world comes to her. She has a staff help her each summer, and her first year a cyclist from Israel asked if she could stay and work for the summer, and that was her first employee. She says, “You can’t write a business model like that! It is given.“
I can’t wait to stay with family tomorrow night, and I think my dad’s best friend will be there for dinner. He has loved hiking and cycling his whole life.
I hope it’s a wonderful time for everyone. We definitely keep odd hours, super early to bed and super early getting ready & out the door, especially when we are working to beat heat or wind.
I have such mixed feelings about the end of this road. Actually our split up day will be Tuesday, so tomorrow I hope to grab some group pictures, although Dee is already gone.
Well it’s 5 o’clock and I have a bit more work to do before bed, so good night from me!💕
Love, Terri

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
