Well, today's weather was nice and cool. Felt like a day at the beach. About mid 60's, winds from the North West. I wore the standard kit. Going out the door, my legs felt average at worst. I decided to go up the Alpine Forest to mix things up. By the time I reached the end of OTR, I was ready for business. I commenced the Banducci wall moderate and kicked it up to good and high over the top. I had a 30 second recovery period immediately after the Banducci wall. I made the left hander onto Arosa Dr. It was pretty much what I remembered. Steep at the beginning, very little reprieves. At the end of Arosa, there was a slight downhill on Lemans, then kicked up on Alps. From there, it was downhill to the summit of Banducci. Coming from the Alpine Forest, I was a bit hesitant going downhill as there were steep sections with blind corners. After reaching Banducci, it was mostly downhill all the way to Mariposa. My body was feeling fresh with little ailments at this point. After reaching WTR, I put it into moderate tempo mode to the summit. The descent was fun and games, soft pedaling and out of the saddle where need be. Once I hit the base, I swapped my bottles out (I had 2 cytomax + 1 water). Immediately after, I headed back. The weather was still cool and a nice tailwind for the majority of the climb. I was able to keep a higher pace due to the favorable weather. I saved my matches for the steeper sections. Once over the loop monument, I put it into steady tempo, between moderate and good. Maybe some high tempo sections. I made a moderate dig over the loop and more of the same over the summit. Concentration was good. Some lapses, but mostly in the zone. Ailments consisted of sore left upper quad. Maybe a hint of lower back soreness. Balance and form felt good. Still not perfectly square. Gear is working well. I'm fiddling with the extended (Brunton) battery. The Gopro is a bit finicky about how it receives the charge from the extended battery. I think the trick is to power up the camera, then turn on the extended battery. More investigating on that later. Other notes, no other cyclists today (surprisingly).
