It's a great day to get out. Temperature in the 70's. Cool winds from the North West. Perfect for going to SS. The legs felt ok from the start. Took a while to get them warmed up. I made it to the summit of OTR in average time. The Banudcci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise, went as normal. As did the remainder of the climb. I took a few moments rest at the summit. I think the GoPro battery was at 65% at this point. Shortly after, I headed down the mountain. Being a bit cautious. The rough pavement didn't help. From there, it was the trek to SS. Mostly moderate tempo into the wind. I made my way around the backside. I put in a sprint to start the downhill. The bike handled beautifully. I took a bio break at the local park and then got back on the road. I made it to the tunnel in about 1:10 hours. So, I was lagging behind a bit. I zipped through town and got back on the farmlands. The tailwind was a welcome relief. I didn't bother checking the time at Boss Hoggs. If I had to make a guess, it was probably 1:30-ish. The last climb went quick. I kept the tempo going over the top. No heroics. I pulled over at the summit to swap out the GoPro battery. I think I was distracted by something, because I forgot to put the depleted battery back in the saddle bag. Fortunately, I remembered a few miles later. The battery was tucked in my jersey, just where I put it. The saddle bag was opened, but I don't think anything fell out. After making it to OTR, it was fun and joy on the downhill. I pushed over Mariposa and shut it down after reaching the top of Weston. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. The music helped. Ailments, some right hand numbness. Gear worked flawless. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I didn't feed, but I went through a full Gatorade bottle, some water, and a bit more Gatorade from my 3rd bottle. Other notes, I saw just one cyclist near SS as I was returning.
