The rain persists. A good day to ride indoors. I went to London today. Getting the kit ready was quick. No issues. I started the ride by warming up. So, moderate tempo to the base of the Box Hill climb. While getting there, I was stretching the legs by doing in and out of the saddle efforts. I was sufficiently warmed up by the time I reached the base of the climb. My intention was to post a negative split for the climb and the loop. When I reached the climb, I started moderate. I tried to keep the wattage just below 3 W/kg. Both in and out of the saddle. I was keeping track of a few things. The metrics and the landmarks. I had to keep in mind how long the effort was going to be. I knew it was in the ballpark of 11 minutes or so. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recoup, and then headed back into town. I put in a good dig through the tunnel riser. The second lap went as planned. I was sufficiently warmed up and was able to hold a higher tempo till I reached the base of the climb for the second time. I started out of the saddle. The majority of the climb was out of the saddle. I was in the saddle to hydrate and allow the legs to recover. I posted a negative split at the summit and was in the top half of the leader board. From there, I headed back to town. I put in a good dig through the tunnel riser. I reached over 9 W/kg. The legs felt good. As I was approaching the finish, I noticed I was going to post a PR. So, I went for it. I was holding between 3.5 to 5+ W/kg for a minute or two. I posted a sub 30 minute loop. That put me will into the top half of the leader board. After reaching the finish, I shut it down. I allowed the body to cool down slowly as I was at maximum. I allowed the HR to drop down to 112 BPM and then hopped off. Concentration was good. Minimal lapses, a bit impatient here and there, but the morale was good. Balance and form was good. The cleat position feels better. Gear held up good. No issues. The cleats feel good. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through most of my sport drink. Other notes, there were over 3000 riders on the London map today.
