The weather has let up a bit. It's mostly cloudy, but not raining. When I got up early in the morning, the streets were wet. I had breakfast and to my morning nap. When I got up, the streets looked to be sufficiently dry. So, I decided to hurry up and get out. I tried my new shorts for the first time. They felt good. The wind was from the North West. I wore the entire winter kit. I couldn't find my head cap, fortunately I had a spare. It didn't fit as comfortable, but did the trick. The legs were a bit heavy to start. I made it to the top of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill. I was going into a headwind and the street was damp here and there. So, I played it safe. I stopped once to take a video of two trains passing each other, one on the way up and the other on the way down. I made it to the base in about 31 minutes. So, I was several minutes behind the usual time. I stopped at the Chavez center to remove my head cap and face mask. I pointed my camera in the direction of a passing train while conducting business. I got back on the road shortly after. From here, it was non-stop climbing. I kept the tempo steady. The HR sensor appeared to be accurate. I was trying to keep it near 150 BPM and not much above. The landmarks came and went. The morale got better as the ride progressed. I was well off average time to the summit. No heroics today. The weather didn't permit. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover, zipped up the jersey and jacket and made my way back home. Concentration was good. No lapses and minimal gremlins. Balance and form was good. The cleat position feels good. Ailments were minimal. Some mild hand soreness. The knees held up good. They didn't complain much. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, no cyclists today and no tourists at the Loop Monument.
