What a beautiful day for a bike ride! It's a bit on the cold side, sunny skies, mild winds from the North West. A good day to go to the Alpine Forest. I wore a long sleeve jersey, knee warmers, thick base layer, head cap and arm warmers. The legs felt pretty good to start. I was going to change the cleat position on the right shoe, but decided to keep it as is. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. I stopped at the summit to check the rear wheel to make sure the through axle was tight. (It was). From there, I headed up the Banducci Wall. It has some traffic mitigation so I was watching my 6. After making it to the Arosa, I was able to relax a bit and then settle into a climbing tempo. The minutes went quick. The scenery was nice. There was snow on the ground, but minimal run off water. After making it to the speed bumps, I counted them off one by one. I was near max going over the top. I made my way around the backside. It was very safe. No ice or snow on the streets. I safely descended from the Alpine Forest and then headed to the summit of Banducci. I pulled over to take a few moments rest. Shortly after, I let the traffic by and headed back down the mountain. As I was descending, I let traffic by. Descending off the Banducci Wall was mostly safe, but I was taking it easy. After making it back to OTR, I was able to relax and enjoy the downhill. I pushed over Mariposa and shut it down at the top of Weston. Concentration was good. Minimal gremlins, minimal lapses. I was mostly in the zone. I had a few things to think about to keep the mind focused. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I drank most of my Gatorade, no water. Ailments were minimal. There was some mild right Achilles heel soreness that didn't escalate, but was noticeable. The knees were mostly cooperative. Gear worked flawless. The shorts feel good. Other notes, I saw one cyclist as I was making my way back from Country Club.
