The weather has turned mostly sunny. Winds from the South East. Perfect for a ride to Keene. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good time. I cruised the downhill. I had a tailwind, so I was feathering the brakes most of the way down. I decided to take it easy on the risers as my right inner glut is a bit sore. I made it to the base in about 24 minutes. I pulled over to inspect the brakes because it sounded like they were rubbing. It turns out that everything was ok. So, I got back on the road and headed back up the mountain. The legs were good. I had some mild right knee soreness that never escalated and was mitigated from giving it a wiggle. The landmarks went quick, considering I was going into a headwind for most of the ascent. I was doing mostly out of the saddle efforts and sitting to recover and hydrate. I was stretching on the dips. I was checking the time here and there, my calculations were fairly accurate. I stopped once at the top of the Loop Monument to remove the newspaper I had in my jersey. I stopped once more to take a photo of a red tail hawk, but it flew away before I got my smartphone ready. From there, it was non-stop. I kept the tempo going over the top, but nut red-lining it too much. After making it to the summit, I recovered and headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston. Concentration was good. Minimal lapses or gremlins. Balance and form was good. Ailments. Some, right upper knee soreness. Will have to check the cleat. Some mild right glut soreness. The glut soreness seems to be persisting, so I'm trying to give it as much time to heal. Nutrition was good. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. I had no hunger signs. Gear worked flawless. However, when I got back home, I noticed the rear wheel was loose. For some reason, the through axel was not tight. Upon inspection, no damage has been done. Will have to keep an eye on it on the next ride. Other notes, no cyclists today.
