It was warmer and windier than I expected on today's ride to Riley and back. No matter that the NWS thinks that wind was from the SW, it was out of the NW when I rode in it and it was a headwind outbound. It clocked around to be mostly westerly for the return leg. I made the best of it by working on endurance, and rode both legs without stopping. I managed to PR the return leg and the long hill climb, while getting close on the outbound leg, mostly by virtue of not taking my usual break in either Keats or at the cottonwoods on the hilltop. Expecting middle 50s temperatures, I was also overdressed, in the blue wool jersey and tights. The poly long-sleeve jersey would have been fine. Bib shorts with my new knee warmers might have been the ticket for the legs. Despite being just a bit overly warm, both the fleece tights and wool jersey breathe well and it wasn't onerous. They're still working on West Anderson, and the bike path is about three-quarters finished. It has a handicapped ramp at the park entrance, which also makes a great bike portal.
