I got out earlier than usual. I skipped my morning nap in favor of an early departure. After assembling my gear, I headed out. The legs felt pretty good to start. The weather was in the 70's, clear sunny skies. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, but not so bad. I was near max going over the top. The Arosa climb went well. I kept a steady tempo and let the miles go quick. The legs felt pretty good. The temperature was a bit less, but the sun was on top of me, so it was getting warm. I was near max going over the top. I made my way around the backside. I reached 41 MPH on the downhill. As I was descending, I noticed a soft feeling in the rear tire. After making it to the exit of the Alpine Forest, I confirmed that I had a flat. So, I found a convenient place to stop (at the local mail lockers). I proceeded to fix the flat. I had all the tools and it went without a hitch. Everything worked as it should. After fixing the flat, I was going to take some photos. So, I reached in my rear pocket only to realize that I forgot my smartphone. I was thinking, this couldn't be and looked around. Until I realized, 100% that I forgot the phone, because it would not have fallen out of my rear pocket. Nevertheless, the flat was fixed and was able to get on with business. I headed to the summit of Banducci. After making it there, I took a few moments. I let traffic by and then headed back down the mountain. The descent off the Banducci Wall was safe. The wind was mild and minimal traffic. The return on OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was able to remain calm while fixing the flat. Minimal lapses or gremlins. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through most of my sport drink. Ailments were minimal. The usual hand numbness and a bit of stomach soreness. I drank water to mitigate the stomach soreness, that did the trick. Gear worked flawlessly.
Other notes, I saw 3 cyclists and some runners.
