It warmed up a bit. If I'd have to say, this weather is right in the sweet spot of things. The legs felt good to start. I noticed that the GPS wasn't getting a reading from the power meter. I was already to the end of the block, so I didn't want to turn around. I figured I could re-seat the battery. So, I stopped at the local parking area near the Tom Sawyer lake. I couldn't find a suitable place, so I got back on the road. This delayed my ride by a minute or two and is reflected in the overall time. I ended up stopping at the top of Mariposa. Long story short, it didn't work. I put it out of my mind and got on with business. The OTR climb felt good. I wasn't too serious about the time at the summit as I lost a minute or two. I'm guessing I did good average time. No less. The descent was fun and games. Mariposa was the usual push. From there, I made my way to Keene. Pretty much non-stop. I cruised the downhill. I put in two digs on the risers. Too bad the power meter wasn't working because I put down some good wattage. After making it to the base, I decided to swap out the GoPro battery. Shortly after, I got back on the road. The climb felt good. The morale was good. The landmarks went fast. I had stuff to think about and the music kept me company. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. The legs were responsive. I did stretching yesterday instead of core training. I felt recovered. I kept my tempo going and reached maximum just as I crested the summit.
Concentration was good. Minimal lapses, minimal gremlins. The morale and patience was good today. Balance and form was good. Ailments. Some hand soreness / numbness while grinding out of the saddle. Nutrition was good. I think I had a hint of hunger signs in the first half. Drinking my sport drink fixed that problem. I went through one bottle of the sport drink, no water. I brought an extra bottle of water and PowerBar powder, but didn't need it. Gear worked flawlessly, with the exception of the power meter. I will swap out a new battery and see if that fixes the problem.
Other notes, no cyclists today. I saw one runner on Mariposa on my way out.
