It’s Labor Day. I was reluctant to get out of bed but manage to get up in time for a morning ride. The weather is getting warmer. I’m glad I got out when I did. I was thinking of going to OTR first and then Keene. But decided to do it in reverse. So, I went to Keene first. The wind was mild, from the North West. Temperature as probably in the upper 70’s, hotter when in direct sun light. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. The legs felt a bit on the heavy side, but not so bad. I cruised the downhill. I put in two modest digs over the risers. After making it to the summit, I headed back without delay. There was a cyclist behind me that eventually bridged and kept going. I didn’t let my ego get in the way, so I continued at my own pace. The landmarks went quick. The body felt pretty good. My right Inner quad (nerve) has been acting up. So, I adjusted my tempo and riding in and out of the saddle to prevent it from happening. Suffice it to say, I kept it under control today. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back down and to OTR. The legs were a bit heavy on OTR, so I kept the tempo moderate. I headed back when I reached the summit without stopping. I pushed over Mariposa (modestly) and shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. The morale was good despite the fact that I would have liked to have slept in. I was in the zone most of the time. Ailments, some minor inner quad soreness and the usual hand numbness at times. Both were in check. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I went through my sport drink and some water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I counted at lease 6 cyclists today.
Today was the last day for the Fun in the Sun cycling / running / swimming competition . It looks like I got 3rd in the singles cycling category.
