The weather is great. I think I got out at the right time. I woke up around 5 in the morning, had breakfast and took a nap. I got out around 9:15 AM. So, I was well rested and good to go by that time. The legs felt pretty good to start. My right hip was a bit sore over the past day. It hurts only if I twist. The leg motions on the bike did not cause any pain. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, so I was on high alert. The Alpine Forest went quick. I was able to relax and settle into a steady tempo. Before I knew it, I was already at the speed bumps. I don't think I checked my HR at the top of Arosa, but likely near max. I made my way around the backside, reaching 44 MPH on the descent. From there, it was to the Banducci Summit. When I got there, I took a few moments to recover and let traffic by. The GoPro battery was at 48%. The descent was mostly safe. I was keeping an eye on traffic and feathering the brakes for good measure. After reaching the base, I headed to SS. Mostly steady tempo. There was a slight headwind at this point. When I reached the front entrance to SS, I took a few moments and stretched on the bike. I put in the grind around the backside and then to the downhill. I put in a strong sprint reaching 42 MPH in the tuck. Lotsa fun! I stopped at the local park to bio and got back on the road just as quick. I stopped at the local mini-mart to mix a sport drink. Somewhere around here, I had to swap out the GoPro battery. Form there, I headed back. There was a nice tailwind, so the trek through the farmlands was quick. The last climb went well. I settled into a sustainable tempo. I decided to stop at the summit to feed a Clif Bar. Somewhat reluctantly. Glad I did though. I made my way to Route 202. I let traffic by and then headed down to OTR. OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and the grind up Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. The morale felt good. I was in the zone most of the time and there were no signs of gremlins. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. My right hip was sore if I made sudden twists like looking to the rear, but didn't detract from my progress. Some hand soreness, maybe a hint of knee tenderness. Gear worked flawlessly. Nutrition was good. I drank almost two bottles of sport drink and some water. I fed a Clif Bar on the latter part of the ride. Other notes, no cyclists but there were some walker / runners.
