What a great day for a ride! Winds were favorable, temperature nice and cool, but not freezing. Partly cloudy. I wore arms, knees, head cap, and jacket with a thin base layer. That held me over perfectly. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good time. The Banducci Wall had traffic mitigation, so I was watching my 6 the whole way up. I was at maximum when I made it to the top. I let up on the flat part and then made my way to the summit. I made it to the summit in good time. I took a few moments to recover, let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. I had to pull over on a turn-out to let traffic by. After that, it was non-stop descending. As I was making my way to the farmlands, I noticed my GPS was tilted up quite a bit. I’ve no clue what happened. The mounting bolt was torqued to spec. I’m guessing something got caught and pulled it up somehow. Nevertheless, I waited till I got to Pellisier to reposition it. After getting it back to normal, I didn’t have a problem thereafter. The trek through the farmlands went quick. The legs felt good. I had a tailwind most of the way back. I made it to Boss Hogs in under an hour, so I was on good time. The last climb was mostly high tempo. I was at maximum going over the top. After making it to the summit, I pulled over to feed a Clif Bar. Once done, I got back on the road. I stopped once more to take photos of the surrounding area. From there, it was non-stop to home. Route 202 had traffic mitigation. I was sprinting to the left turn onto OTR. Descending off OTR was fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and did the usual dig to the top of Weston. I shut it down at the top. I did real good time today!
Concentration was good. I had minimal lapses and no gremlins to speak of. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. Just some minor hand numbness and mild soreness. Nothing a good shaking couldn’t fix. Nutrition was good. I fed a Clif Bar and went through most of my sport drink and some water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, there was a some run off water on OTR. I’ll have to give my bike a good cleaning before the next ride. Other notes, I saw two cyclists (if I recall correctly).
