Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

I got up early today, hoping I'd be able to get out well before noon. I had eggs on toast, and took my nap. I was slow to get out of bed. Keep thinking to myself, just 10 more minutes. Finally, I got up and commenced the preparation for the ride. I had my bike gear installed last night. I ate a Cliff Bar before the ride. The folks had to leave at around 12pm. And, there was coverage of the Colorado Classic on the internet, starting live at 12pm. I setup my laptop and had my folks pause the live coverage, for me to watch later. I got out around 11am-ish. So, I had a carrot from the start. The legs felt good from the start. Making it to the summit in good time. I made my way downhill. A bit more than cruising. Some traffic mitigation. I was pushing harder than normal, on a ride like this. Concentration was good and I was able to adjust my effort, as to refrain from burning too many matches. I kept the tempo no less than moderate, out of the saddle on many occasions. The landmarks went fast. After reaching the summit, I called home for bottles and headed to the mail lockers. No time wasted, swapped bottles, hydrated and headed out. It took a few minutes to get the legs (re)warmed up. I made my way through OTR. Preparing myself for the Alpine Forest. I arrived at the Alpine Forest, legs feeling good. I kept the tempo above moderate. Out of the saddle frequently. I was near max, at the summit, but still feeling good. I made my way to the summit of Banducci. Once there, I took a few moments rest. Ate half my Power Bar. Let traffic by, and headed downhill. No Bio calls yet. So, I skipped that when I reached SS. I spared no time and made my way around the loop and headed back. When I was half way through CV, I was getting signs of (what felt like) a #1 bio call. It wasn't strong, but noticeable. I was questioning, what I should do. There weren't any Porta-Potties. So, either I'd have to find a place to relieve myself. Or, I'd have hold it. I decided on the latter. I was keeping tabs on the bodily signals. It felt like a combination of stomach bloating, #1/#2 bio signals, yet I was getting signals of hydration. An unusual combination. The last climb was the last time I had a chance to bio. I was just a bit on the confidence side, so I decided to hold it. The climb went well, despite the fact. The last riser was the usual grind. I recovered on the false flat and then made my way down Route 202, mitigating traffic. From there it was fun and games, push over Mariposa, and maintaining composure. Concentration was good. I wasn't struggling to keep focus. I was in the zone. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, numb hands, some mild quad and knee soreness, the bio #1 signals, stomach uneasiness. Gear worked well. The GoPro turned off somewhere between the mail lockers and OTR. I turned it back on, hit the record button. It worked flawless from that point. Other notes, I saw more cyclists than I could count. I sense that people are getting prepared for the GranFondo. As for the Colorado Cyclist video coverage, it worked. I got home, and was able to start the video from being paused. (I'm watching it now, as I type).
