A miserable day for riding. Great day for riding in-doors. The map of the day was NY. There were over 4000 riders logged in! I decided to ride Watopia. I updated the xml data. The setup time was quick. I got my kit on and hopped on. There were around 200-250 riders on this map. I did the mountain route. The legs were a bit heavy to start. It was a bit cold in the garage, so I waited till about 10 to 15 minutes into the ride before turning on the fan. I commenced the climb mostly out of the saddle till the first bridge. I did moderate tempo across. When I reached the end, I upped the tempo. Out of the saddle frequently. In the saddle to recoup, during the lesser gradients. I think I got better as the climb went on. There weren't that many people, so I had to gauge by the metrics. About 5 minutes from the summit, I realized I was on PB. When I was about 3 minutes from the summit, I increased the tempo. The last 2 minutes were above 5 W/KG. I kept the power down till I reached the finish. No sprinting. Just high tempo. I put in a PB and grabbed the KOM jersey. I then headed up to the radio tower. No heroics. Mostly between 3 and 4 W/Kg. After reaching the summit, I headed downhill. My goal was the reach the start/finish. I kept the tempo steady. Mostly moderate, some out of the saddle pushes. No sprinting on the sprint section. After reaching the start/finish. I shut it down and cooled down for about 4 minutes. Concentration was good. Few to no lapses. The first 10 minutes felt the longest, the remainder felt like time was going by quicker. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, next to none. Maybe a hint of right knee soreness. Gear is working great.
