It was snowing the past couple of days. There's still moisture in the ground, so I decided to ride indoors. The map of the day was New York. But, I didn't want to ride it. I selected the London map. And did the short Box Hill loop. I got my gear set up. I was able to figure out how to get zwift to stream over the internet. Windows 10 has a feature that lets you do that. So, mom was able to watch me ride. I started with a modest warmup. Out of the saddle just to get the legs stretched. I decided I wanted to do a negative split. I knew I was going to do at least 2 laps. Wondered if I would do a third. I ended up doing 2. The first time Box Hill was well within my limits. Keeping the wattage around 3.5 to 4 watts/kg. Out of the saddle, most of the time. When I reached the summit, I think I was off by about a minute from my PR. Good for the first lap, and I took the climber's jersey. From the summit, I headed back to town. Putting in a good dig through the "sprint" tunnel. I made it to the start/finish in under 30 minutes, taking the leader's jersey. I spared no time to continue. Keeping my momentum going and the legs warm. I was sufficiently sweating by this time. I was on the base of Box Hill in good time. I wanted to put in a negative split, so I put in just a bit more power. 4 watts/kg+ about half the time. I ended up putting in a negative split by about 20 or 30 seconds. From there, it was back to town again. Putting in a dig through the sprint tunnel and then back to the start/finish. That was two laps in under one hour. I kept going till the 1 hour mark. Then cooled down before stopping. Concentration was good. Few lapses. Balance and form felt good. Again, I put a folded newspaper under the left leg. I think it helped from the leaning to the left issue. Ailments, next to none. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, about 90 riders in the start. between 200 and 300 riders in the end.
