Weather remains unsafe to ride outdoors. Another good day to train indoors. I decided to ride the Austria Innsbruck map. I think it was one of the first, if not THE first time. I chose the Worlds Short Lap. I knew it had a climb, but wasn't sure how significant. I started modest, letting the legs warm up. I was guessing how much time i'd have before reaching the base of the climb. The ride through the city was pleasant. Good scenery. Mostly flat to modest rolling terrain. The climb started after about 7 minutes of riding. Sufficient to get warmed up. I had no clue how long the climb was, nor the gradient. I approached it like the Watopia Mountain loop. Keeping it near 3.5 to 4 Watts/kg. That turned out to be spot on. The climb was mostly steady. There weren't significant changes in gradient. Although it did get noticeably steeper in some places. I was able to estimate the remaining time by looking at the map profile as I was riding. I could see where I was in relation to the finish. Unlike the Watopia map, this route had tons of riders. I was passing most of them. By the time I reached the summit, it was about 20 something minutes. So, just a bit less than the Watopia map, but with almost no respite. After reaching the summit, I continued on the loop. Wondering, what the time would be when I reached the Start/Finish. The return trip took me off the mountain and back into the city. It was mostly false flats, but there were some short punchy climbs. I reached the Start Finish in 50ish minutes. So, by my calculation, I was going to be back on the slopes before the 1 hour mark was up. Turned out to be a spot on estimation. I was about 3 minutes into the climb by the time the hour mark came up. When it did, I took a U-ee and commenced s 4-5 minute easy pace, followed by a minute or two of easy pedaling. Concentration was good. Balance and form felt good. I removed the folded newspaper from under the trainer to see how the lean felt. Felt good. Ailments, next to none. Some quad soreness when riding on the flats. I had to get out of the saddle to relieve the soreness. Gear worked great. The live streaming worked like a charm. Mom and dad were able to watch with no issues. Other notes, There were over 2200 riders today, on this map.
Edit: I finished 32-ish on the climb. I let the altimeter to reach 2000 ft of vertical climbing, before commencing the cool-down. I got 20th on the course loop.
