They predicted rain for today. I was prepared to ride indoors. I got up in the morning and the sky was partly cloudy. It didn't look like it was going to rain. I took my nap, got up. Same thing. Cloudy skies, but the clouds were a bit darker. I decided to ride up to Alpine Forest. Winds from the North West. The legs felt good from the start. I brought my skull cap and ended up putting it on at the end of OTR. I made my way to the Alpine Forest, from there. As I was climbing up the Alpine Forest, I could see what appeared to be fog in the distance, on the adjacent mountain. I kept note of that. As I was climbing, I could smell a hint of wet tarmac. A few moments later, there were droplets on the ground. It started to sprinkle very lightly. I had a choice. Turn around or keep going. I looked into the direction where I was headed and it appeared the clouds weren't as dark. So, I decided to ride through the light rain. I made my around the back end of the Alpine Forest. The rain stopped half way through. I turned left on Banducci to see what the weather looked like from that vantage point. It looked like the clouds were going to hold up, but it would have been a gamble. I decided to turn around. As I was descending, I decided to add the Highline summit. When I reached the base of Banducci, I headed East on Highline. From there, I turned back and headed home. I was considering adding WFT road, while I was on my way back, but decided to just go home from there. Concentration was good. Balance and form was good. Ailments, none. Gear worked great. The GoPro stopped less than 1:20 hrs into the ride and I changed batteries shortly after. Other notes, no other cyclists today.
Other notes, I timed myself on the Alpine Forest Climb. By my estimation, I did 10 minutes and felt well within my limits. The 2018 TGF was a 10 and change minute ascent.
