I wanted to get out today. I had my sights set on Keene. I was getting my bike gear ready. I stepped out the garage door and the wind was going north. So, I thought to myself... Let's ride indoor. The only other option was WS. But I decided to ride indoors. I chose the Watopia Mountain Loop. I had the Alp du Zwift (sp?) route in mind. I want to save that for a special day. Perhaps on the next rainy day. The gear setup went quick. No issues. I got ready, hopped on the bike and headed out. I warmed up for about 10 minutes before the start of the climb. It was just enough to verify the trainer was working, and it was. I approached the climb moderate until I felt the legs liven up a bit. I made my way across the bridge doing 3 watts/kg, until the last 100 yards or so. I sat, took a few breaths, then got into the out of the saddle routine. Being, out of the saddle most of the time, and in the saddle to wipe down and drink. There were many riders on the climb. Most doing 2 Watts/kg. A handful around me doing near equal to myself. It gave me inspiration. The miles went quick. Before I knew it, I was in the tunnel. On the last 4 to 5 minutes, the count-down began. I was looking at the top times and they were in the 17 to 18 minute range for the top 20. I was on par for a sub 26 minute climb. No doubt a race day. I was way down the leader board. I decided not to push to the limit. But did keep the momentum going over the summit. I was somewhere in the 200th places. Like I say, about 50% slower than the winning times. After that, I did the usual bonus climb. I was sweating most of the way up. Somewhat frustrating that I couldn't wipe down, as I was out of the saddle most of the time. From the summit, I headed back into town. While doing the numbers in my head. I put in a good dig through the sprint zone. Probably 80% max. I got 30 something. I made my way to the start/finish in good time. I cooled down for about 5 to 8 minutes before finishing. Concentration was good for the most part. Ailments, none. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked flawless. I ended up turning off the Game Bar streaming video as it was causing the game to stutter. I ended up doing a recording to the local machine, instead. Other notes, there were over 2000 riders when I started on this map.
