The weather feels like fall, because it is. Temperature around 70, and winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit with a thick base layer. I brought an extra bottle of water. I stashed it in the mail locker before heading to Keene. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I put in two digs on the risers. After reaching the base, I headed back without hesitation. The climb went quick. The landmarks went by fast. The morale felt better as I passed the second dip and more so on the “bridge”. I kept the momentum going over the top. Afte cresting the summit, I decided to pull over and feed half a Clif Bar. Then I headed to the mail locker to grab the extra water bottle and fill a sport drink with the powder I also brought. From there, I headed to OTR. OTR went quick. The legs were warm, so it didn’t take much for the climbing legs to settle in again. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to feed the other half of the Clif Bar. I headed back after the quick snack. The downhill was enjoyable. The air was nice and cool. There were workers trimming trees, so the traffic was controlled. It delayed my progress by just a few moments. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. Perhaps there was a bit of impatience, but it got better. No gremlins to speak of today, with minimal lapses. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal with a few grapes for breakfast. I fed a Clif Bar during the ride with about one and a half bottles of sport drink with some water. Gear worked flawlessly, but the mystery clicks have returned. It happens only when I’m stomping out of the saddle. Other notes, I saw one or two cyclists, a runner and a familiar walker.
