It's starting to rain again. No go for an outdoor ride. Perfect for Zwift. Innsbruck was the map of the day. Was perfect for me. I swapped out the trainer tire and the gear setup went quick. The legs felt pretty good from the start. Didn't take much to warmup. By the time the climb started, I was sufficiently warmed up. I spent the first 10 minutes getting the climbing legs to set in. I wanted to do a good average time to the summit. The Innsbruck climb doesn't have the same scenery as Watopia, but it has sufficient views to keep your attention. I was trying to to micro manage the time as it went by. Every minute or two I checked my overall time. Estimating how much I had to go. I was trying to keep it around 3.5 Watts/kg or less. I made it to the summit without red-lining. The descent was mostly recover. I was doing mostly 2 watts/kg. One the second lap, I was warmed up and was able to commence the climb at a slightly higher tempo. The observations were mostly the same. Checking the stats. Comparing it with others. Estimating my ETA and keeping the wattage around 3.5 Watts/kg. My intention was to do a negative split on the climb. I was too far off for a PR, so I put that out of my mind. About half way up the climb, I knew I was going to post a negative split. When the ETA popped up, I was able to see my estimated time to the summit. I was well within my negative split time. I think I was less than 1 minute off my PR. I kept the power down. Approaching the red-line in the last few minutes. I made it to the summit in good time. Posting 11th overall. The descent was recovery. Again, 2 watts/kg or so. I made my way into town and cooled down before stopping. Concentration was good. I was listening to new music. Always good for the morale. I was in the zone most of the time. Ailments, I had some mild left knee soreness. It never escalated. Maybe some right hand numbness, and hand soreness from being out of the saddle. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked perfect. Other notes, there were about 700 riders on this map when I started.
