(The power is out here, at home. They are reinstalling electric poles and AC won't be back for another 2 to 3 hours. I'm typing this entry from my laptop computer). The weather has warmed up just a bit. In the low 80's. Winds from the North West. The legs felt average to start. I had no intentions of PRing today. So, I took it easy to the summit before the descent I made it there in average time. I cruised the downhill. Putting in sprints on the two risers. Other than that, it was a casual ride to the bottom. After reaching the base, I turned around and headed back. The body didn't take much to get the climbing legs going. I kept my mind focused mostly on the landmarks. Trying not to think of every passing mile. I was doing no less than moderate tempo. Having to put in good efforts on the steeper slopes. After reaching the Loop Monument, I took a few moments on the downhill riser to recoup, hydrate and stretch a bit. The morale was better at this point as the most difficult parts were behind me. I kept thinking about the landmarks and doing rough calculations in my head. When I approached the summit, I kept the momentum going. Nearing max over the top. Concentration was good. Few lapses, morale was good. I kept my mind occupied as best I could. Maybe some signs of ambient gremlins.. Nothing worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Ailments.. I was having some mild chest pains on the right side. I couldn't make it out. I had a tough time sleeping last night. My sides were hurting and I ended getting ice to cool them off. Gear worked flawless. No issues. Other notes, no other cyclists today. Some people at the Loop Monument.
