I had a dentist appointment in the morning, so my ride was delayed. The weather is perfect now. It's nice and cool. In the upper 50's / 60's. Winds from the North West. Perfect for going to Keene. I wore double arms, knees, thick base layer, head cap, face mask and some newspaper in the jersey. That held me over. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the top of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put two digs on the risers. After making it to the base, I headed back with no hesitation. I didn't bother to check the time when I got there. The metrics shows that I made it there in average time. The return trip went quick. I had a nice tailwind and the air was cool. The landmarks went quick. I had stuff to think about and that made things go quicker. There was a familiar cyclist on his way back as I was nearing the base. He was my better, so no chance in catching him. After making it to the bridge, I kept my tempo going. I was doing no less than moderate tempo on the way up. I put in some high tempo efforts here and there but tried not to red-line it till reaching the summit. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about, and the morale felt good. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Some slight hand soreness. Perhaps a hint of soreness in the right hip. It got better as the ride progressed. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal in the morning and half a banana with grapes before departing. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw just one familiar cyclist today.
