It has warmed up slightly. In the upper 70's perhaps 80. Winds from the North West. The legs were ok to start. My right hip was hinting on soreness. I made it to the top of OTR in average time. I felt a bit off while descending. It felt like my body had to acclimate. I put in two modest digs on the risers. Otherwise, I took it easy. I made it to the base in average time. After making it to the base, I headed back with no hesitation. The legs settled in quicker than I anticipated. I had a nice tailwind on the way back. The air was on the cool side, so that helped too. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts for the duration of the climb. The landmarks went quick. I had stuff to think about and that helped. I was doing better in the morale after the second dip in the climb. I was listening to the music in the last 10 minutes and I guessed when I would reach the summit and how many songs to get there. I was right on the money in my guess. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. I was a bit impatient on the descent. I felt eager to get on with the climb. I had a slight lazy brain sensation, but it got better on the ascent. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes before departing. Ailments were minimal. My right hip was hinting on soreness in the first 15 minutes of the ride. It got better and didn't escalate. Gear worked flawlessly. I wore single socks, so I had to tighten the buckles a bit more than usual. Other notes, I saw some people at the Loop Monument on my way down and back. No cyclists today.
