What a fantastic day to go riding. The weather was perfect. Nice and cool, upper 60's and winds from the north. I wore one base layer shorts and short sleeves. I did some weights yesterday, including squats. My legs were sore before the ride, so I wasn't sure how I was going to feel. Tuns out that the soreness didn't inhibit. I felt good from the start. I made it to the top of the descent in about 9 minutes. A good, above average time. I cruised the downhill as usual and out of the saddle when the road kicked up. When I commenced the climb back, I immediately knew that my legs were going to be ok, in terms of soreness. I held moderate to high tempo for most of the climb. It's difficult to say why my legs were feeling so good. If anything, I thought I was going to be crawling up the climb. It was completely the opposite. My concentration was spot on for most of the ascent, some lapses here and there, kind of jinxed myself on a few occasions but was able to limit my loses and get my focus back. Ailments consisted of soreness in the legs from the previous day's weight training. Hip pains in the left side and lower back pain. The lower back pain was significant enough that I had to slow down my tempo. Gear is working well. Bike is making less noise. Likely because I reseated the wheels.
