Today's weather was nice. In the low 70's and winds from the south. I wore 1 base layer, arms and knee warmers. My legs felt good from the start, but I did have a tailwind going out to Keene. I made it to the top of WTR in about 7 minutes. A full minute faster than usual with these wind conditions. I cruised the downhill. Pretty much fun and games with the force of the tailwind helping. I reached the bottom in about 22 minutes. About 6 minutes faster than an average ride. I was able to reach 44+ mph while getting into a tuck on the open part of the ride. On the return ascent, I started with modest tempo. I stopped at the Chavez center monument to remove my arm and knee warmers. It was warmer than I had anticipated. The ascent was more or less than I expected. I knew the winds would make for a challenging tempo. I saved my energy for the parts that required a bit of a push. Other than that, I was cruising in moderate tempo. My concentration was good for the most part, but I deviated on more than a few occasions. Fortunately, nothing significant enough to detract from my focus. Balance is good. My right knee has a hint of soreness. Other ailments were minimal. Gear is working great. There were some mystery clicks on the way down to Keene. When I stopped at the Chavez monument, I reseated both front and rear wheels. This seemed to mitigate most of the noises. Other notes, I just got my new Gopro Hero 4 camera. Will have to see how it fairs on the next ride.
