Cool. Today was the first time I've been able to do a complete ride in a weeks time or so. The weather was absolutely fantastic. Low 70's, winds from the north. I wore 1 base layer and arms. I took the arm warmers off when I reached the end of OTR. I played this ride by ear because I wasn't sure if my body was going to allow me to do the ride in its entirety. Fortunately, I didn't have too many ailments. I started brisk and kept the tempo modest till I reached the end of OTR. I made it there in a good average time of about 20 minutes. I progressed up Banducci, keeping myself from over-exerting. I picked up the pace just a bit as I was entering the last gradient of the climb. My body felt good when I reached the summit and it was at that moment that I decided to do the entire ride. I cruised the downhill, fun and games. Kept the tempo modest till I reached SS. I pushed it over the summit of SS, recovered and continued. After this point, I was doing some stretching every 5 or so miles. I think I reached the tunnel in under 1 hour. I exited SS and did modest tempo till I reached Pelisser. From that point, I kept the speed steady with no heroic efforts. I did make it to Boss Hogs in under 1:20 hours. I was somewhat concevitive going up the CVR climb. I put in a slightly higher effort over the summit. From that point, it was smooth sailing. Concentration was real good today. There were some moments where my mind was losing focus, but I managed to keep it in the zone for the majority of the ride. Balance was good. My legs felt nice and symmetric with little deviation. Ailments were present, but not to the point of having to drastically alter my pace. They consisted of some soreness in the lower right back, some discomfort in the right knee that didn't persist, some hints of cramping in the left calf muscle, and some mild fatigue in the deep muscles near the hip.
Footnote: There were some mild mystery clicks today. I reseated the front and rear wheels. The clicks persisted. My thinking is that it's the pedals/cleats. I'll oil them for the next ride.
