Today was somewhat unusual. I got up early, had breakfast and then took a nap. I wasn't feeling so great and was going to scratch the ride. I decided to take another nap and woke up after 12PM. I decided to just go and see what the body feels like. I took a peak at the weather. The phone said it was about 54 degrees. I wore arms, knees, cap and base layer. It turned out to be just enough. The wind was favorable. So, I had a headwind on the way out. I reached the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised my way down to the base. I put in a couple digs on the risers. I mis-shifted on the first and nearly pulled my foot out. No harm done, though. I got to the base and headed back. The legs felt good. Tough to believe that just an hour ago, I was going to scratch. The climb went quick. I had my music player streaming off the smart phone, so that I could shuffle the tracks. Worked great! I tried not to red-line it much. I kept the tempo moderate, no too much higher or lower. After passing the Loop Monument, I kept the tempo going. In the meantime, I kept my thoughts occupied. I calculated the ETA's. I reached the summit in good time. I kept the power down over the top. Concentration was good. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked great. The GoPro lasted on one charged battery. Ailments, next to none. Other notes, there was a good size crowd at the Loop Monument. The seemed to take a second glance at me as I was passing by. I think I got their attention from my music speaker. Overall, great ride, I love this cool winter air.
