Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. It was supposed to rain today. Turns out that the clouds rolled in, but no rain (yet). I decided to ride in-doors. I chose the Watopia Mountain Route. I felt good from the start. I knew right from the beginning that my legs were going to feel good. It took the usual ~10 minutes to get to the base of the climb. I started moderate. I was doing over 3 W/kg from the get-go. I was keeping the power down over the bridge, but not so much. The ascent was a steady pace between 3 and 4 W/kg. Stainding most of the time. And, in the saddle when the gradient let up. The miles went quick. I was mostly paying attention to time. Doing the numbers in my mind. I definitely like this route better than the reverse mountain route. The scenery is more engaging. You can sort of loose yourself for a few moments, to let the time pass by. There were over 3000 riders on this map, today. I was mostly passing people (on the climb). After making it to the tunnel, I kept the power down. Keeping in mind that there’s a slight downhill where I can recover. I was able to remain standing for that duration. From there, it was the rolling terrain, and the brief climb to the summit. I posted a time under 28 minutes. It didn’t register a PR, but I think I was close. I followed up with the bonus climb. Doing about 3 – 3.5 W/kg most of the way. Peaking, towards the top. The downhill went quick. I tried to keep my mind occupied. Thinking about the pace, in terms of minutes per mile based on the metrics provided. When I got back to the island, I kept the tempo going. Out of the saddle, frequently, even on the lower slopes. Lastly, I put in a good dig through the sprint zone. Posting a PR. From there, it was to the start/finish. Again, no PR posted, but likely close to one. Concentration was really good. Balance and form were good. Gear worked great. Although, the trainer moved around, quite a bit, as I was digging. I had to constantly shimmy the bike around to keep in alignment. Maybe I just need a stick floor mat. Ailments, next to none.
