Today was a typical spring day, in Tehachapi. I got out early. They predicted 80's. It was in the low 70's when I got out. I decided to go to WS and add the Alpine Forest. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made my way up OTR. The wind was headed south, at this time. I made it to the summit in good average time. As I was making my way out to WS, on Highline, I noticed the wind started to shift. After passing Tucker, by about a mile or so, I noticed the wind turbines turning counter clockwise. So, I was to have a tailwind on the way back. IE, the wind had done a 180. I made my way to WS and then headed back. I had a mild tailwind. It made the ride a bit more enjoyable. I reached Banducci and made my way up the wall. With just a bit of traffic mitigation. Then Arosa (Alpine Forest). I kept the tempo nice and steady. No red-lining it. I was listening to my music. Trying to predict where I would be, by the end of the song. Before I knew it, I was on the last speed bump and then the right hand onto Lemans. This whole ride, I was thinking about the fast descents in the Alpine Forest. It gave me some incentive. I made my way up the kicker and through the backside. I reached over 42 MPH on two occasions. I was wondering what it would have been like, if there was a tailwind on this part of the ride. Perhaps, next time. From there, it was to the summit of Banducci. I let some traffic by, and then headed downhill. The morale was good. Knowing that the remainder of the ride would be mostly downhill or flat. From here it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. Balance and form was good. Ailments, some left knee soreness, that lasted a minute or two, and then went away. Gear worked good. I threw my chain off once or twice. The bike continues to make mystery clicks while out of the saddle. Nutrition was good. No hunger pains. I put too much Accelerade powder, into my bottle. Will try half a cup, next time. Other notes, no other cyclists today. This ride was longer in duration, compared to the last Tour de Teh (SS,R) ride.
