The temperature is in the low 80's. Winds from the North West. A good day for Keene. The legs felt ok to start. Making it to the summit of the descent in good average time. The descent was mostly soft pedaling. After reaching the base, I did the u-turn and headed back. No stopping. The miles went fairly quick. I was listening to my music, more than anything. I tried to keep my mind occupied from getting too lazy. Pretty much checking off the landmarks as I went along. My hands were getting numb while out of the saddle for more than a few minutes at a time. I was forced to sit in the saddle to let them recoup. My right knee was complaining a bit on the last half of the climb. I'm not sure what to make of it. I raised the saddle. So, that shouldn't be a factor. It was hurting when I was out of the saddle, some of the time. Sitting for about 1 minute seemed to relieve the pressure. More confirmation needed, before I make adjustments to my cleats. Otherwise, the climb went as planned. Concentration was good. The morale was fair. Ailments, the right knee, and numb hands (while out of the saddle for extended periods). Shaking them off helped. Balance and form was good. Gear worked great. Nutrition was perfect. No hunger pains. I went through about 2/3rds of my Gatorade and some water. Other notes, I saw one other cyclist ascending, as I was about 2 miles from the base.
