Went on a solo ride at the strike of noon. Weather was in the upper 80's and humid. There was a thunder storm prediction for today, but more on that later. I started out thinking that, being as hot a it was, I was going to cut the route short by not doing the SS loop. So, a little whle into the ride, somewhere between old town road and the banducci wall, there was a significant amount of cloud cover. The humidity stayed the same, but the temperature dropped. So, at this point, I decided to do the SS loop. Bike condition first... It worked perfectly, but I still heard a clicking noise coming from the right side. My suspiscion is that it has something to do with the pedal or the cleats on the shoe. It may take me a few rides to figure it out. GPS, just as I was going to get ready, I turned it on and noticed that the battery had only 1 bar. So I put it on the charger for about 20 minutes. It lasted the entire ride, and then some. This is a good thing to note. GoPro, flawless. Ailments, my lower back (in general) was a little sore on the return trip. I stretched it out a few times and it went away after a while. Concentration was pretty good, there was very little struggle to keep my mind focused. Balance, good. As stated in the previous ride comments, I had to make adjusments as I was going into the camber up Banducci. I'm starting to get the form down for most terrains. Now, I have to keep practicing out of the saddle while in the hooks. Ok, the rest of the ride... The weather prediction was true. As I made my way onto Cummings Valley Road, the wind shifted. So, instead of doing 15 mph, I was doing 10-12mph. At the top of the climb, it was ok. Prior to this, on the first 1hr, there was a little sprinkles here and there. As I made my way to the end of Cummings Valley Road, more sprinkles came down, and then at the end f the road, it started to rain more. By the time I reached the end of route 202, and onto Old Town Road, the rain really started to open up. I had no choice but to ride it out. I got drenched! I immediately started thinking about my mp3 player and my cellphone, as they are not water proof. I covered the walkman with my sleeve and drove on. In the end, even though it rained and I got drenched, I made it back safe and sound. I just now cleaned my bike, and everything is back to normal. I was surprised at the time that I did today, considering that it rained and I had to limit my speed to less than 30mph from route 202 and all the way back out of old town. It was a pretty crazy ride today...
