I accomplished what I set out to do, today. The weather was on the cool side. Winds from the north-west. Just warm enough to wear shorts. I wore arms and 1 base layer. I felt good going out the door. I made it to the end of OTR in good time. At that point, I knew I was going to have pretty good legs. The wind wasn't perfectly east on Highline, but it was noticeable. I did good tempo going up the first mile. I wasn't thinking about time at this point. I probably made it to WS in a good average time. The return trip started modest and a I picked up the tempo as I progressed. No digs over the top, just a good tempo, keeping the power down. I stopped at the summit because I noticed that the bike computer wasn't displaying the current distance. I was able to figure it out and proceeded after about 2 minutes of stop time. I did moderate tempo till I reached the Banducci wall. I was out of the saddle most of the time and I gave it a good push over the top. I recovered, stretched, on the false flat and did good tempo to the summit. Once there, I took a 2 to 3 minute break to eat a power bar. I let the traffic go by and I had fun on the descent. After this point, I knew I could tick over the miles quite rapid. That's what I did. Mostly 18+MPH to the last climb. I did good tempo for the greater duration of the climb and pushed it over the top. There was a cyclist ahead of me, and I was able to bridge and pass before the summit. I used the false flat to recover, but I held good tempo to Route 202. I negotiated through traffic till OTR and cruised the downhill. Mariposa was mostly steady, no digs. From there, it was cruise control till I got home. Concentration was good today. I was in the zone for the greater part of the ride. Ailments was probably the greater of things, I had no serious ailments other than some minor lower back soreness and general fatigue from the ride. I was able to stretch to keep my body in check. Balance and form was good. I think I feel better now that I lowered the saddle height. More training needed to confirm. Gear is working well. No issues other than the bike computer not displaying the correct metrics. Other notes, I saw 2 gliders, one crow's nest on a cell phone tower, and about 6 other cyclists. Overall, a successful ride in many regards.
