Today's weather was warmer than previous, but comfortable. In the mid to upper 70's, winds from the North west. I had a small injury going into today's ride. I cut my left thumb two days ago and had to bandage it. It still hurts when I put pressure on it. Fortunately, I was still able to ride. Although, I had to adopt a position that was not optimal. As for the ride... I felt a bit heavy in the legs to start. I took it easy to the summit. Both legs and injury, for that reason. I think this was one of the slower days on the downhill. When I reached the base, I spared no time to turn around. I started modest and picked up the pace about 1 mile into the climb. Before the ride, I weighed in around 147.5 lbs. A bit heavier than usual, but it wasn't noticeable on the climb. Actually, I felt stronger all together. It felt like I could put more power into the pedals. Like usual, I put my cookies into the steeper sections. With my injury, I wasn't able to get into a steady rhythm, as I was having to constantly adjust my position to accommodate the ailment. Nevertheless, I felt good on the climb. As the ride progressed, I was doing more of an interval tempo than steady. I put two digs in today, one over the loop monument and the other over the summit. Upon reaching the summit, I took a minute to recover and headed home. Concentration was spot on. No gremlins today! Ailments, as said, left thumb injury, some right hand numbness. I had some mild lower back soreness before the ride, it never escalated. I had a slight right knee soreness before the ride and, if anything it went away for the duration of the ride. All the while, I was stretching on the downhill kickers while climbing. Balance and form felt good, considering my condition. Gear is working good. No issues there, but the GPS needs to be adjusted as the time elapsed shows the overall time, not the moving time. Perhaps a call to Garmin tech support will suffice. Other notes, I saw 1 other cyclist as I was about 5 minutes into the climb. He never bridged, not to my surprise.
