Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

The plan for today was to do a double, and that's what I did. The weather was warm, in the 80's, winds from the north west. I wore the standard kit. I got up early today. I wanted to get out before the weather starts to scorch in the afternoon. My legs felt good out the door. With the warm weather, it didn't take long before I was sufficiently warmed up. I cruised it to Route 202 in average time. From there, I put in my mind that I have Keene to do, so I'd better save as many matches for that leg of the ride. I did mostly moderate tempo going out to WS. I don't think I stopped at the turn-around point. My pace was more of the same, moderate tempo, with a modest push over the top. I was feeling good at this point. The downhill was a welcome reprieve, as was going back on OTR. Mariposa was a modest push. From there I kept the pace nice and easy, again saving my matches. After reaching the top of the Descent on WTR, I stopped to swap out my third bottle to my primary cage. In terms of nutrition, I felt fine. I didn't feed on today's ride. The downhill was mostly soft pedaling. I don't know what time I put in by the time I reached the base, but I didn't care. I just wanted to make i t back in one piece. After doing the usual turn-around, it became apparent that my legs felt somewhat heavy. They needed to get re-warmed up. It took about 1 mile for that to happen. From there, it was mostly moderate to good tempo, putting my matches where need be. The heat was definitely a factor at this point. I was in the sun for the majority of the climb. I really felt the heat exhaustion. It seemed like I had half a lung missing. Needless to say, I had to make a conscious effort to keep my body from blowing up. Some times I had to slow to about 7MPH, and using the 32T. After reaching the loop monument, I knew I had it made, but there was quite a bit of climbing to finish, so I didn't get to cocky about it. I was having to slow down and the pick up the pace. Somewhat mini interval style. I made it to the summit in one piece without any bodily harm. Concentration was good today, I was in the zone for the most part. No gremlins. Ailments consisted of some mild lower back soreness, my right foot was getting sore in the toes. As if the tip of my toes were getting squashed into the tip of the shoe. I wore double socks today, so that may have exaggerated the situation. Some quad soreness in the last half of Keene climb. Balance and form felt pretty good. Gear is working great. The camera battery pack didn't work today. I think I forgot to turn it on. Will see on the next ride. Other notes, I saw 3 other cyclists and a derailment on the Tehachapi Loop. There were some gliders near WS.
