Today was 76 miles, but I couldn’t get my GPS to pull up the route this morning to record, so am including a corrected photo.
It rained thru the night so my wet outer clothing & shoes never dried from yesterday. Quite distressing to put them back on this AM to go out and ride in heavy rain which the rain gear could not handle!!😫
BUT! ...we now have a beautiful evening and forecast says that we have just finished with our rain for the trip. We all hope so!
We got to ride alongside the Lochsa/Clearwater River again today and that was beautiful. Lots of clouds in the hills, the terrain reminds me so much of Home.
I particularly enjoyed the eagle. 🦅
This RV park has a family room with a kitchen & gathering area right off the showers and laundry room. So nice. At this particular moment we were all together.
Kathy & I finished this puzzle and can you believe it, one piece missing right out of the middle!
Today, out of the blue, my bike died. Really died. I was so disgusted I shouted a choice word into the pouring rain and then pulled over. I thought my trip was over.
I was soaked to the skin and frozen, standing on the side of the road, but then three good things happened.
*After absolutely no Wi-Fi or cell coverage for 24 hours, I got a message through to Dee that I needed to be picked up.
*Paul rode by and confirmed that he had gotten cell service just around the corner before reaching me, and that he would tell Dave and Dee if my message didn’t get through, as we were only 7 miles from Kooskia where they were waiting in a café. He also helped look for a better pull over place for me to take my bike to wait.
*I had settled down a bit and remembered Bosch's instructions in case it happened. Turn bike off, remove both batteries, put them back, turn it back on. I couldn’t even completely turn the key to get my tube battery unlocked. My fingers were so frozen that even using both hands, I couldn’t get it to click until I thawed out. My hands were soaked all the way through my warmest gloves, and with the wind chill my fingers were frozen and I hadn't been able to shift at times either, but now that I wasn’t moving, they began to thaw.
SO, The batteries still showed the percentage of power I had left, but motor was down. Well, I haven’t added a step of bumping the assist back up, but when I went to move my bike across the street and back to a pulk-out, I tried that just to see, and it lit back up. I couldn’t believe it.
I’m not saying that I trust it, but no matter how ugly the weather was, I hopped back on and was so glad that it was carrying me for another day! I decided to be grateful for what I get.
'course I decided that already before, and didn’t respond very well when I thought I was done today, 😣, especially when I was literally riding with one hand over that newly replaced part to try and protect it from the rain. I do hope to finish out this trip, I’ve come so far and been through about all I could manage.
I did find out this evening that every other person in the group is stopping in Jefferson, so I will be making the final day's ride solo. It feels a little anti-climactic to reach the water by myself, so I’m disappointed, but won’t be stopping till I hit the ocean. No way.
As long as my bike will carry me.😊
Have a wonderful evening! ♥️terri
PS ... guess what I found in one of my boot liners I had drying in the clubhouse!!
You’ll have to check the pictures😁
