Another great day for riding. In the mid 70's, winds from the North West. I wore the standard kit, with 1 base layer. I was able to get my morning nap in before the ride. My legs felt lively today. I took my time going up OTR and made it to Route 202 in good average time. The wind was a bit stronger than the previous ride. Going east. The outbound on Banducci was a mix of high tempo and moderate. Somewhat like doing intervals. When I reached the turn-around point, I spared to time to head back. The wind continued to be strong. I was struggling to hold 15MPH for a good portion of the return trip. I was counting the landmarks as I went. Before I knew it, I was at the last few kickers. I took a look at my time and, in my mind, I was thinking how long it would take to make it to the summit. I was about 1 minute off my best guess. After summiting, I had the feeling that I could put in a bit more. I decided to add Banducci. At first I was thinking just the wall. But as I got closer, I decided to do the entire climb. The wall was mostly good to high tempo. Making a strong push over the top. I recovered as much was I could before the latter part of the climb. When I reached the summit, I took a minute break, hydrated and let the traffic by. The downhill was mostly fun and games and letting traffic by. From there, it was all downhill to Mariposa (a slight push over) and then home. Concentration was good, no lapses, minimal gremlins. Ailments consisted of some mild hand numbness, some right calf soreness when I reached Banducci. Some right quad soreness. Balance and form felt good. I'm still convinced I can do better, hopefully spend the off-season dialing in a better position. Gear is working well. Other notes, I saw about 3 or 4 cyclists today.
