It’s a perfect day to go to SS. In the upper 60’s. Winds from the North West. The legs felt good from the start. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had traffic mitigation, so I was having to adjust my tempo accordingly. The remainder of the climb went a bit better. After reaching the summit, I took a minute to recover, let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. The trek to SS was mostly moderate tempo. The backend climb went as usual. I put in a sprint on the backend descent. I accelerated to 35 MPH, and tucked to 40 MPH. I stopped at the local park for a quick bio break and got back on the road just as quick. I made it to the tunnel in about 1:05 hours. I zipped through town and got back on the farmlands. Doing mostly moderate tempo. I reached Boss Hogs in about 1:29 hours. So, I didn’t give up much time. The last climb went quick. The legs felt good. I kept my tempo going over the top and pulled over at the summit to swap GoPro batteries. Route 202 had minimal traffic mitigation. The OTR descent was a treat. I pushed over Mariposa and shut it down at Weston. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. Company is arriving today, so I was thinking about stuff that needs to get done and where to go on future rides. Gear worked flawlessly. Ailments were minimal. I mitigated hand soreness by alternating hand positions on the hoods. Nutrition was spot on. I had plenty of provisions without rationing. Balance and form felt good. Other notes, I saw 6 or 7 cyclists today!
