I had lab at 8:30. I showed up early so that I could get out there in time for a morning ride. I think I got back before 9AM. I had breakfast, suited up and headed out. The weather is around 70 degrees. Winds from the North West. Perfect for going to Keene. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs were average to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. It turned out to be a bit cold on the way down. I was getting a bit affected by it. Somewhat light-headed. I couldn't make heads or tails of it until I realized I was getting fatigued by the cold air. I put int two digs on the risers. I had to fiddle with the GPS and power sensor. It started working after the second riser. Nevertheless, I made my way to the base. I was getting impatient. I arrived there in average time. I headed back without delay. I could tell right away that I was going to get better as there was a nice tailwind and I was warming up a bit. It took about 7 to 10 minutes into the ascent till I felt better. I focused on the landmarks and the GPS announcements. After my climbing legs settled in, my concentration got better and the landmarks started to go by quicker. I tried to keep the tempo no less than moderate while doing in and out of the saddle efforts. I kept the power down going over the top. I recovered on the bike after cresting the summit. Then I headed back home I pushed to the top of Weston and shut it down when I got there.
Concentration was good. I was a bit impatient getting to the base of the climb. Otherwise my focus was good. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand numbness while riding out of the saddle. Gear worked flawlessly. However, there is still a mystery click near the bottom bracket. It happens on the 6 O'clock down stroke on the right side. It happens only while I am grinding out of the saddle. I re-torqued the left crank-arm bolts yesterday. I guess that didn't help. Will have to think of the next step. The GPS gave a warning that the Di2 battery was critically low. I decided to ignore it as the ride was a short one. Turned out to be the right decision. It lasted plenty. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and half a banana before departing. Other notes, no cyclists today. There were people at the Loop Monument while I was descending and on my way back.
