Another rainy day. Perfect excuse to ride indoors. I chose the Watopia mountain route today. I think the map of the day was London. There were over 1000 riders on the Watopia map today. I felt pretty good. The legs were lively from the start. I started at around 100 Watts/kg for 5 minutes. Then in and out of the saddle to stretch the legs. I turned on the fan at the start of the climb. I was doing around 3.5 to 3.7 watts'kg. When I reached the bridge, I tried to keep the power going. After the bridge, was game on time. From that point, I was doing 3.7+ Watts/kg. I was holding above 4 Watts/kg on many occasions. I was doing the number, figuring out how I was going to stack up. I saw that there were a few guys doing in the 4+ watts/kg range. I figured that if there were that many around me doing that good, I'd be lucky to be in the top 20. So, I kept going. Legs felt good. I was able to keep the HR between 145 and 155 BPM. After exiting the tunnel, I was still feeling good. Then my estimated time to the summit was showing. I was near a PR. I pushed on. With about 2 minutes to go, I saw that I was within reach of my PR. So, I put it into a bigger gear and mashed for the last minute. By the time I reached the summit, I eclipsed my PR by a few seconds, and, to my amazement, got 4th at that point in time. I was plenty sweaty by that time. I headed to the radio tower from there. Mostly 3.5 - 3.8 watts/kg. I took a few moments rest at the summit and then headed down, back to the start/finish. I tried to keep the momentum going. In and out of the saddle where needed. I put in a dig through the sprint zone, getting 22nd. I reached the start/finish in about 1:02 hours. + or -. From there was spinning till 1:05 popped up, and then cooldown. Concentration was real good. I was plenty captivated from the number of cyclists and Zwift. Balance and form felt good. I think I need to make another adjustment to the tilt of the trainer. Ailments, next to none. Lower quads were a bit sore on the flats. Mitigated by getting out of the saddle. Gear worked great. Towards the end of the ride, I noticed that there was something going on with the trainer. When I got off the bike, I noticed that the power cable was chafing on the tire's contact point. I inspected it and saw that the insulation had worn off on one of the wires. Will likely need to shop for a replacement. Will use a block to hold it in place, next time. Sometime, after making it to the summit, my left lens on my clear glasses popped out. I ended up riding with just one lense. Otherwise, all worked well. The game bar broadcasting worked, but mom couldn't figure out how to view my footage. More about that next time. Other notes, there were about 1000 riders on this map, today.
