The weather is so nice now! It’s sunny, in the mid 60’s, winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, thick base layer and newspaper in the jersey. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the top of the descent in good average time. I cruised the descent. I put in two digs on the risers. After making it to the base, I took the newspaper out of my jersey and stashed it in my saddle bag. After that, it was non-stop climbing. I had a nice tailwind on the way up, so the landmarks went quick. I felt better after making it to the second dip. As I was approaching the “bridge”, I guessed the number of songs to make it to the summit. I was close in my approximation. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover. I zipped up my jersey and headed back home. I shut it down after the dig to the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone most of the time. Perhaps a hint of impatience to reach the bottom. There were hints of gremlins, but I held it together. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. Hand soreness was the worst. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and half a banana for breakfast. I think I had a few grapes before departing. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked perfectly. I dropped my chain while cleaning it after getting back. I had to remove the chain catcher. The chain catcher seems to make things worse, so I am thinking of not putting it back. Other notes, no cyclists today. There was a train on its way down as I was descending.
Other notes, I put in two good digs on the risers.
